Gertrude's Victimization and Death
Gertrude is in a position of power, yet remains powerless due to her gender and the men in her life. She becomes a victim, treated as a mere object and trophy wife rather than a real person with her own thoughts. The first action she takes of her own accord is to drink from Hamlet's chalice against her husbands will, which ultimately leads to her death.
